Regular Season Round 8: San Salvatore - Patti 56-91

Very important is a home loss of third ranked San Salvatore (5-2) against eleventh ranked Patti (3-5) on Saturday night. Host San Salvatore was crushed by Patti in San Salvatore 91-56. Patti dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to San Salvatore's 34. They outrebounded San Salvatore 39-28 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Patti especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by San Salvatore's players. The winners were led by guard Virginia Galbiati (175-92) who scored that evening 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Marta Verona (174-94) supported her with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Patti's coach Mara Buzzanca felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by power forward Mounia El-Habbab (186-94) did not help to save the game for San Salvatore. Guard Silvia Ceccarelli (182-96) added 15 points for the hosts. Patti moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser San Salvatore dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Patti will meet at home higher ranked Umbertide (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. San Salvatore will play against Bolzano AV and hope to secure a win.
