Regular Season Round 9: Gliwice 2 - Bielsko-Biala 81-78

There was an upset when higher ranked Bielsko-Biala (4-4) was edged on the road by tenth ranked Gliwice 2 (3-6) 81-78 on Saturday. Bielsko-Biala was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Stanislaw Helinski (198-0) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Swingman Aleksander Wisniewski (192-3) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Piotr Mecnarowski (196-86) answered with 6 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Wojciech Zub (181-95) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Bielsko-Biala. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Gliwice 2 maintains tenth place in Group C with 3-6 record. Loser Bielsko-Biala keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Gliwice 2 will face higher ranked AZS AWF Mick. (#3) in Katowice in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
