Regular Season Round 7: Joventut - Maresme 46-63

Everything went according to plan when leader Maresme (5-0) defeated 9th ranked Joventut (1-3) in Badalona 63-46 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for forward Mireia Vila (183-91, college: St.Joseph's) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Cristina Hurtado (187-92) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Paula Curto (175-97) answered with 12 points and Laia Soler (185-1, college: Boise St.) added 3 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Joventut. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Maresme. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Unicaja. Newly promoted Joventut dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Maresme will face Casablanca (#9) in Zaragoza in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Joventut will play on the road against Segle XXI in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
