Regular Season Round 6: Univ.Valladolid - Cantbasket 65-80

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Univ.Valladolid (1-2) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Cantbasket (2-3) 80-65 on Saturday. Cantbasket outrebounded Univ.Valladolid 43-19 including a 37-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. DR Congolese forward Steve Kuminga (198-96, college: CCC) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Rasheed Worrell (203-96, college: Lynn) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Worrell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Cantbasket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Javier Martinez (187-97) with 21 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alejandro Pescador (180-97) scored 12 points and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantbasket moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with Filipenses. Loser Univ.Valladolid dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Cantbasket will face league's second-placed Burgos Nissan at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
