Very predictable result when sixth ranked Rioja (4-2) edged on the road bottom-ranked Rosalia (0-5) 71-69 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for guard Saioa Altzaga (-95) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. Cameroonian forward Marguerite Effa (190-97, college: Nevada) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Brazilian center Leticia Soares (185, college: San Diego) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and Sara Corredoira (-0) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rosalia. Rosalia's coach Chiqui Barros tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rioja. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Viladecans. Rosalia lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Rioja will face Arxil Pontevedra (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rosalia will play against Barakaldo in Vizcaya and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
