Regular Season Round 9: Politechnika Gd. - Notec Inowr. 57-101

Very expected game when 8th ranked Politechnika Gd. (2-5) was smashed by leader Notec Inowr. (7-0) in Gdansk 101-57 on Sunday. Notec Inowr. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Politechnika Gd.'s 26. They outrebounded Politechnika Gd. 47-22 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Notec Inowr. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Politechnika Gd.'s players. It was a good game for swingman Damian Janiak (195-89, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Center Karol Michalek (208-87, agency: Promotex) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Blazej Czerniewicz (195-2) answered with 18 points and guard Stefan Marchlewski (184-98, college: Morrisville St.) added 8 points in the effort for Politechnika Gd.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Notec Inowr.. They maintain first place in Group A with 7-0 record. Politechnika Gd. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. Notec Inowr. will face league's second-placed Koszalin Zak at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Politechnika Gd. will play against Gniezno (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
