An interesting game for Townsville Fire (5-2) which played road game in Melbourne against one of their biggest challengers Boomers (4-2). Third ranked Townsville Fire managed to get a 12-point victory 87-75. Townsville Fire made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Townsville Fire especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The winners were led by international guard Lauren Nicholson (183-93, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored that evening 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Shyla Heal (167-1) supported her with 19 points. Even a double-double of 15 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international center Cayla George (192-89) did not help to save the game for Boomers. International power forward Eziyoda Magbegor (176-99) added 20 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Boomers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Townsville Fire have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Boomers dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Southside. Townsville Fire will meet Adelaide Lightning (#5) on the road in the next round. Boomers will have a break next round.
