Regular Season Round 8: Pyrinto - Catz 63-91
Date: November 25, 2020
Bottom-ranked Pyrinto is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to ninth ranked Catz Lappeenranta (2-6) 91-63 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. Pyrinto managed to win fourth quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pyrinto to just 6 points in second quarter. Catz Lappeenranta forced 22 Pyrinto turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Pyrinto's players. The winners were led by American swingman Mariah King (188-90, college: EIU) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Roosa Kosonen (183-0) supported her with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by guard Reetta-Sofia Tulkki (175-0) did not help to save the game for Pyrinto. Guard Emilia Anttila (165-0) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Catz Lappeenranta moved-up to eighth place, which they share with ViVe. Newly promoted Pyrinto still closes the standings with seven games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will meet at home league's second-placed Espoo Team in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pyrinto will play against Tapiolan Honka (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
