The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santo Andre at the home court on Thursday night. Hosts were rolled over by Vera Cruz 75-56. Vera Cruz forced 21 Santo Andre turnovers and outrebounded them 46-27 including 36 on the defensive glass. The former international center Damiris Dantas (191-78) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Tassia Carcavalli (176-92) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side the former international forward Jaqueline Silvestre (178-86) responded with 16 points and Argentinian point guard Ornela Pag (167-94) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vera Cruz is looking forward to face Ituano on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Santo Andre will play against Sesi/Arara. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
