Regular Season Round 9: Honka - Pyrinto 90-69

Bottom-ranked Pyrinto (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Tapiolan Honka (6-3) 90-69. It looked good early as Pyrinto took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tapiolan Honka had a 24-10 second period charge getting the lead and Pyrinto was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-90. Tapiolan Honka made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Pyrinto turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Cierra Dillard (176-96, college: Buffalo) accounted for 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tapiolan Honka players scored in double figures. Center Liisa Taponen (193-2) came up with 11 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Anni Jamsa (169-95) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Pyrinto in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tapiolan Honka. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader PeKa, which they share with FoA and Kouvot. Pyrinto lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Tapiolan Honka will play against league's second-placed Espoo Team at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pyrinto will play against ViVe (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
