Regular Season Round 9: Nidaros Jets - Tromso 81-96

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Tromso (4-7) beat 9th ranked Nidaros Jets (2-8) in Tromdheim 96-81 on Saturday. They outrebounded Nidaros Jets 39-26 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tromso looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American-Nigerian forward Anthony Elechi (203-93, college: Morehead St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Swedish Olle Welander (-0) contributed with 27 points for the winners. Elechi is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Mikkel Aarnes (184-0) answered with 21 points and forward Jakob Baiden (194-93) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Nidaros Jets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nidaros Jets' coach Thor Overmo tested twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tromso maintains seventh place with 4-7 record. Loser Nidaros Jets keep the ninth position with eight games lost. Tromso will face higher ranked Ammerud Bskt (#6) in Oslo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nidaros Jets will play on the road against Froya Basket in Laksevag and hope to win that game.
