Regular Season Round 12: Rubon - Brest 104-66

Rather predictable result in Vitebsk where fifth ranked Rubon (6-4) smashed 8th ranked Brest (3-7) 104-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Rubon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Brest's 42. Rubon forced 22 Brest turnovers and outrebounded them 56-27 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Brest's players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Illia Palanevich (193-99) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Russian forward Marsel Ovsepyan (202-90) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Rubon players scored in double figures. Rubon's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) with 26 points and 5 rebounds and forward Daniil Kolesnikov (200-2) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Rubon moved-up to fourth place. Brest at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Rubon are looking forward to face Tsmoki II (#7) in Minsk in the next round. Brest will play at home against Impuls BGUIR Minsk and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
