Regular Season Round 9: Ponzano - Vicenza 53-56

Very expected game in Veneto where 12th ranked Ponzano (2-7) was edged by third ranked Vicenza (6-1) 56-53 on Saturday. Vicenza forced 25 Ponzano turnovers. Ponzano was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Elena Vella (175-0) stepped up and scored 13 points for the winners and forward Claudia Gobbo (180-98) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Federica Iannucci (171-93) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Czech swingman Tereza Zitkova (177-98) scored 20 points. Ponzano's coach Nicolas Zanco tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vicenza moved-up to second place in A2. Loser Ponzano keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Vicenza will face Carugate (#14) in Corugate in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ponzano will play on the road against Albino and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
