Regular Season Round 7: I.Nahariya - Maccabi T-A 81-98

Bottom-ranked Ironi Nahariya (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-81 loss to leader Maccabi T-A (5-0) in Nahariya. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ironi Nahariya's 40. They outrebounded Ironi Nahariya 38-17 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Maccabi T-A players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Elijah Bryant (196-95, college: BYU, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Liberian-American center Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee Services) accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Maccabi T-A's coach Giannis Sfairopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Dominic Waters (186-86, college: Portland St., agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 17 points and 8 assists and the other American import forward Jaron Blossomgame (199-93, college: Clemson) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Ironi Nahariya in the defeat. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Maccabi T-A. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with H.Jerusalem. Ironi Nahariya lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Maccabi T-A will have a break next round. Ironi Nahariya will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
