Regular Season Round 17: Yamagata - Gunma 74-77

Sixth-ranked Yamagata (6-11) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Gunma (15-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Gunma managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Gunma made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) nailed 30 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: UCF) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and the other American import forward Andrew Randall (198-90, college: Temple) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gunma have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Loser Yamagata keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Kagawa FA. Gunma will meet at home Aomori W. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
