Regular Season Round 2: Verona - Mantova 89-82

Verona's fans can celebrate the first win of their team.They used home court advantage to defeat Mantova (0-2) 89-82 on Sunday. Verona made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (203-84, college: Washington) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Phil Greene-IV (188-92, college: St.John's, agency: Higher Vision Sports) supported him with 19 points. Five Verona players scored in double figures. Even 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by American guard Christian James (193-96, college: Oklahoma) did not help to save the game for Mantova. Naturalized Argentinian Mario-Jose Ghersetti (201-81) added 19 points for lost side. Verona (1-0) left bottom position moving up to fourth place in A2. Loser Mantova still closes the standings with two games lost. Verona will meet Treviglio (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mantova will play against Casale and hopes to get finally their first victory.
