Regular Season Round 10: AWFiS Gdynia - SMS PZKosz 60-98

There was a minor upset when their close opponent AWFiS Gdynia (1-6) was rolled over at home by eleventh ranked SMS PZKosz (2-4) 98-60 on Sunday. SMS PZKosz dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AWFiS Gdynia's 36 and made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while AWFiS Gdynia only scored three points from the stripe. SMS PZKosz forced 20 AWFiS Gdynia turnovers and outrebounded them 58-30 including a 42-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. SMS PZKosz looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. AWFiS Gdynia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Kamil Bialachowski (200-2) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Igor Krzych (183-3) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four SMS PZKosz players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Maciej Dalak (189-95) responded with 10 points and 5 assists and Szymon Walczak (186-0) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SMS PZKosz moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Astoria 2. AWFiS Gdynia lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. SMS PZKosz will face higher ranked Arka 2 (#5) in Gdynia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AWFiS Gdynia will play at home against AZS UMK (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
