Regular Season Round 8: Barsy Atyrau - Astana 59-89

An interesting game for Astana (9-0) which played road game in Atyrau against one of their biggest challengers Barsy Atyrau (6-3). Top-ranked Astana had an easy win 89-59. Astana dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy Atyrau's 26. Astana forced 19 Barsy Atyrau turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Devyn Marble (198-92, college: Iowa) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 steals and guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) who added 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. Astana's coach Emil Rajkovic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Ryan Cook (191-90, college: UMBC) responded with 15 points and guard CJ Carter (185-93, college: Omaha) scored 15 points. Astana have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-0 record. Barsy Atyrau at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Almat.Legion. Astana will play against Almat.Legion (#3) in Alma-Ata in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Barsy Atyrau will play at home against Aktobe and hopes to get back on the winning track.
