Regular Season Round 9: Venezia - Ragusa 92-65

Undefeated leader Venezia delivered the ninth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Ragusa (3-2) 92-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ragusa. Venezia made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (197-89) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The former international point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach Giampiero Ticchi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Finnish-Egyptian center Awak Kuier (195-1) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Tyaunna Marshall (175-92, college: Georgia Tech) added 15 points respectively. Venezia (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Ragusa at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Venezia are looking forward to face Vigarano (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ragusa will play against Costa Masnaga (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
