We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Akita Happinets (8-8) were defeated at home by eighth ranked Niigata A. (7-10) 110-102 on Wednesday. Niigata A. had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Akita Happinets were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-North Macedonian power forward Richard Hendrix (203-86, college: Alabama) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 24 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) scored 22 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata A. maintains eighth position with 7-10 record. Akita Happinets lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Niigata A. will face higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita Happinets will play at home against Dragonflies and hope to win that game.
