The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Southside Flyers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Southside Flyers smashed 5th ranked Adelaide Lightning in Dandenong 111-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Adelaide Lightning. Southside Flyers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 30 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game, while Adelaide Lightning only scored three points from the stripe. Southside Flyers forced 26 Adelaide Lightning turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Adelaide Lightning's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 rebounds. The former international Jenna OHea (185-87) contributed with 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Alex Wilson (174-94) answered with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Adelaide Lightning. Four Southside Flyers and five Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Southside Flyers have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Adelaide Lightning at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play next round against strong Canberra Capitals trying to get back on the winning streak. Southside Flyers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
