There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Pyrinto Ak.B (2-7) beat second-ranked Westside ET (6-3) in Espoo 78-65 on Friday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 29-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Pyrinto Ak.B made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 30 Westside ET turnovers. Strangely Westside ET outrebounded Pyrinto Ak.B 49-28 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Shaquille Thomas (201-92, college: Cincinnati) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Guard Kion Williams (185-3) contributed with 17 points, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) replied with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists and guard Sami Marouf (188-88) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Westside ET. Pyrinto Ak.B moved-up to thirteenth place. Westside ET at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Pyrinto Ak.B will face higher ranked Huima (#6) in Aanekoski in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Westside ET will play at home against Ura Basket II (#11) and hope to win that game.
