Regular Season Round 11: Zubry - Zyrardow 92-80

There was an upset in Bialystok where higher ranked Zyrardow (6-4) was defeated by ninth ranked Zubry (5-5) 92-80 on Saturday. Zubry shot 67.4 percent from the field and made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Zyrardow only scored eight points from the stripe. Zubry forced 26 Zyrardow turnovers and had a 29-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Zyrardow was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Maciej Bebeniec (177-0) who scored 22 points and 8 assists. Andrzej Misiewicz (199-84, college: Daytona St.) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Five Zubry players scored in double figures. Center Przemyslaw Gielo (195-95) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Sylwester Kus (188-90) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Zyrardow's coach Sochacki Piotr let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Zubry moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Zyrardow dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Zubry will face league's second-placed AZS UMCS in Lublin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zyrardow will play at home against Ostrow Mazow. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
