Regular Season Round 8: Rivas - Dist.Olimpico 73-60

The biggest surprise took place in Rivas where host Rivas (4-0) beat league's leader Dist.Olimpico (3-1) 73-60 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dist.Olimpico. It was a key game for the top position in Group B-A. Rivas forced 20 Dist.Olimpico turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Alejandro Zamora (184-98) who scored 13 points and 6 assists. Luis de-Barros chipped in 14 points. Center Manuel Villamandos (201-0) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and Jaime Perez (198) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rivas have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group B-A leader. Dist.Olimpico at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Quintanar. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mataro. Dist.Olimpico will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Rivas will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Lanzarote in Arrecife.
