Regular Season Round 8: Gandia - Carolinas 81-61

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Carolinas (0-7) was outplayed on the road by seventh ranked Gandia (3-3) 81-61 on Saturday. Gandia outrebounded Carolinas 35-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. Carolinas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Joan Hernandez (184-97) who scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Jose Merencio (195-0) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gandia players scored in double figures. Nicolas Martinez (-1) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and Nacho Gaya (185-90) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Carolinas' coach Javier Ruiz let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gandia moved-up to fifth place in Group E-B. Newly promoted Carolinas still closes the standings with seven games lost. Gandia will face higher ranked Alginet (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Carolinas will play against the league's second-placed UAF Lucentum (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
