Everything went according to plan in Malaga where leader Unicaja (7-0) won against 12th ranked Granada (1-4) 75-68 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-93) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Taja Cole (173-97, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Unicaja players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (194-92, college: Shaw) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American guard Nici Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Unicaja. They maintain first place with 7-0 record, which they share with Maresme. Loser Granada keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Unicaja will face Almeria (#4) on the road in the next round. Granada will play against Sevilla (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
