Very important is a home loss of second ranked Peristeri GS (4-2) against twelfth ranked Lavrio (1-3) on Saturday night. Host Peristeri GS was defeated by Lavrio in a tough game in Athens 70-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Peristeri GS. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Peristeri GS won fourth quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lavrio forced 21 Peristeri GS turnovers. Strangely Peristeri GS outrebounded Lavrio 37-25 including 22 on the defensive glass. Guinean-American guard Alpha Diallo (201-97, college: Providence) notched 14 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Vasileios Mouratos (193-97) supported him with 15 points. Four Lavrio players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by international center Ioannis Bourousis (214-83) did not help to save the game for Peristeri GS. The former international forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (202-84, agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Peristeri GS's coach Argiris Pedoulakis rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Lavrio left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Peristeri GS at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Lavrio's next round opponent will be higher ranked Charilaos (#5) in Mesolongi and it may be quite challenging game. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
