Regular Season Round 7: Oviedo - Valladolid 83-78

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Valladolid (2-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked Oviedo (3-1) 83-78 on Saturday. Oviedo made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Valladolid outrebounded Oviedo 37-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Elijah Brown (193-95, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side the former international forward Nacho Martin (202-83) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Oviedo maintains third place in Gold with 3-1 record behind leader Breogan. Loser Valladolid keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Oviedo will face Burgos (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valladolid will play against Melilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
