Undefeated leader Peli-Karhut delivered the tenth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Torpan Pojat (3-7) 93-59 in Kotka. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Torpan Pojat's 28. They outrebounded Torpan Pojat 44-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Zykera Rice (185-96, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Nea-Paula Kuisma (183-99) responded with 16 points and forward Ida Myllyoja (180-96) scored 4 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Torpan Pojat's coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Peli-Karhut (10-0) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Torpan Pojat lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with ViVe. Peli-Karhut will meet Kouvottaret (#5) in the next round. Torpan Pojat will play against Catz Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
