Regular Season Round 9: Mark - Helsingborg 82-65

Mark has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Helsingborg (0-8) 82-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-65. Mark dominated on the defensive end, holding Helsingborg to just 6 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Helsingborg's 22. They outrebounded Helsingborg 58-35 including a 42-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Fallyn Freije (183-96, college: Montana St.) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and guard Stina Almqvist (181-2) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Mark players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Finnish guard Sara Rokkanen (178-96, college: Toledo) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Patricia Elias (160-0) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mark (1-8) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place. It was Helsingborg's eighth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Mark are looking forward to face higher ranked Hogsbo (#4) in Goteborg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helsingborg will play at home against Norrkoping Dolphins (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
