The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Akita Happinets' (10-8) home victory over 8th ranked Dragonflies (4-14) 84-78 on Sunday. Akita Happinets made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American forward Alex Davis (206-92, college: Fresno St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Akita Happinets' coach Kenzo Maeda used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit) replied with 23 points and his fellow American import power forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita Happinets maintains seventh position with 10-8 record. Dragonflies lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. Akita Happinets will face higher ranked Toyota Alvark (#5) in Tokyo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dragonflies will play on the road against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
