Regular Season Round 18: Kawasaki BT - Hokkaido L. 88-83

Very expected game when 10th ranked Hokkaido L. (4-14) lost to fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (13-5) in Kanagawa 83-88 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Hokkaido L. 41-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jordan Taylor (187-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hokkaido L.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sea Horses M. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 14 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Yokohama BC (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hokkaido L. will play against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
