There was no surprise when 15th ranked Cerrado (1-7) was outleveled by second ranked Minas (7-1) in Belo Horizonte 97-77. Minas made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Minas outrebounded Cerrado 42-24 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. International forward Gui Carvalho (197-2) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Felipe Queiroz (202-98) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Five Minas players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Henrique Coelho (184-93) produced 17 points and point guard Lucas Farina (186-95) added 7 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Minas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader Flamengo. Cerrado lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth place with seven games lost. Minas will have a break next round. Cerrado will play on the road against Pinheiros (#16) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
