Regular Season Round 9: Sant Josep - Maresme 49-65

Very predictable result when leader Maresme (7-0) beat on the road 9th ranked Sant Josep (2-4) 65-49 on Sunday. Maresme forced 22 Sant Josep turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Mireia Vila (183-91, college: St.Joseph's) who scored 21 points. Center Olga Ruano (191-88) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was French forward Sophia Elenga (185-95, college: ASU) who recorded 6 points and 9 rebounds and Neus Amengual (-95) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Maresme. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Unicaja. Sant Josep lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Maresme will face Mataro (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sant Josep will play against Segle XXI (#6) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
