Regular Season Round 9: Sydney Uni - Bendigo 62-54

Bottom-ranked Bendigo Spirit (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 62-54 loss to seventh ranked Sydney Uni Flames (3-7) in Sydney. Sydney Uni Flames outrebounded Bendigo Spirit 46-30 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American swingman Alison Schwagmeyer-Belger (177-90, college: Quincy) nailed 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Tessa Lavey (172-93) came up with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Carley Ernst (196-94) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Bendigo Spirit in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Sydney Uni Flames maintains seventh place with 3-7 record. Bendigo Spirit lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. Sydney Uni Flames' next round opponent will be league's leader Southside Flyers in Dandenong and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
