Regular Season Round 10: Gomel - Victoria 62-80

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Victoria (3-7) beat on the road bottom-ranked Gomel (0-10) 80-62 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Victoria's pressure prevailed and they won that period 22-8 extending their advantage to 18 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gomel's 18. Victoria forced 19 Gomel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for forward Elizaveta Shyshliuk (178-5) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Point guard Ekaterina Novik (170-5) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Victoria players scored in double figures. Victoria's coach Viktoryia Datsun used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Maryna Rakauskaya-Minkevich (173-92) added 13 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Gomel. Victoria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with COR Victoria and Gorizont 2. Loser Gomel still closes the standings with ten games lost. Victoria will face Gorizont 2 (#5) in Minsk in the next round. Gomel will play on the road against the league's leader Gorizont in Minsk and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
