Regular Season Round 7: I.Nes-Ziona - Maccabi T-A 58-65

There was no surprise in Nes Ziyona where 8th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (1-4) was defeated by leader Maccabi T-A (5-0) 65-58 on Monday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-10. But Ironi Nes-Ziona won third quarter 22-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi T-A made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Bosnian-Croatian Dragan Bender (212-97) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Greek-American guard Tyler Dorsey (196-96, college: Oregon, agency: Wasserman) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Giannis Sfairopoulos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Kwan Cheatham-Jr (206-95, college: Akron) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and international Nimrod Levi (208-95) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Maccabi T-A. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with H.Jerusalem. Ironi Nes-Ziona lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Maccabi T-A will have a break next round. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play on the road against M.Rishon (#7) in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
