There was no surprise when 10th ranked Hokkaido L. (4-14) lost to fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (13-5) in Kanagawa 53-71 on Monday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Jordan Taylor (187-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hokkaido L.Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Toshiba Thunders have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Sea Horses M. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 14 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Yokohama BC (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hokkaido L. will play against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
