Regular Season Round 10: Pozuelo - Castello 40-62

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Pozuelo (2-6) was outleveled at home by twelfth ranked Castello (2-4) 62-40 on Tuesday. Castello forced 22 Pozuelo turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. Pozuelo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for swingman Virginia Saez (173-95) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. Senegalese forward Khadidiatou Diouf (190-96, college: Fairfield) contributed with 6 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Maria Malpartida (168-98) replied with 9 points and Italian Charlotte Ragnetti (-2) added 11 points in the effort for Pozuelo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Castello moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Granada. Pozuelo lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Castello will face higher ranked Picken Claret (#9) in Valencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pozuelo will play against Estepona and hope to win that game.
