There was no surprise when 13th ranked Mataro (1-6) lost to top-ranked Maresme (8-0) in Barcelona 54-62 on Tuesday. Quite impressive performance for Slovenian guard Sara Vujacic (180-96, college: Maryland, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds. Center Olga Ruano (191-88) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Point guard Ariadna Magrina (164-94) replied with 10 points and forward Queralt Coll (188-94, college: Campbellsville) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mataro. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Maresme have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group C with 8-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Ferrol. Mataro lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with six games lost. Maresme will face Viladecans (#4) in the next round. Mataro will play against Segle XXI (#5) and hope to win that game.
