Very expected game when 9th ranked Paterna (2-6) lost at home to second ranked UCAM Jairis (8-2) 70-57 on Tuesday. UCAM Jairis forced 24 Paterna turnovers. Strangely Paterna outrebounded UCAM Jairis 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for Mozambican guard Clitan De-Sousa (183-96, college: OK State) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Latvian center Marta Miscenko (193-95, college: Wingate) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Center Iciar Velasco (185-86) replied with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and British guard Georgia Gayle (175-97, college: UCF) added 15 points in the effort for Paterna. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. UCAM Jairis have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Ferrol. Paterna lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with six games lost. UCAM Jairis will face Real Canoe (#6) in Madrid in the next round. Paterna will play on the road against Melilla (#8) and hope to win that game.
