The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Sevilla's (0-8) home loss to thirteenth ranked Granada (2-4) 57-72 on Tuesday. Granada forced 20 Sevilla turnovers. It was a very good performance for Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (194-92, college: Shaw) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Nici Gilday (175-92, college: Santa Clara) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Virginia Lopez (-86) replied with 18 points and American center Danielle Hammond (193, college: VCU) added 12 points in the effort for Sevilla. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Granada moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Castello. Newly promoted Sevilla still closes the standings with eight games lost. Granada will face higher ranked Almeria (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sevilla will play against Leganes (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
