Very significant was Astana's (#1, 10-0) victory against 3rd placed Almat.Legion (6-4) 90-66. Astana made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Almat.Legion turnovers. American guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Jeremiah Hill (188-95, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Hill is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Astana players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds and guard Roman Lagutin (195-95) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Astana (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Newly promoted Almat.Legion keeps the third position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
