Very predictable result in Nagoya where third ranked Diamond Dolphins (12-7) defeated 10th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (2-17) 91-77 on Wednesday. Diamond Dolphins looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Diamond Dolphins' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins maintains third place with 12-7 record having just two points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Hitachi SRT. San-en NeoPhoenix lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face Dragonflies (#9) in Hiroshima in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San-en NeoPhoenix will play on the road against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
