Regular Season Round 19: Alvark T. - Akita NH 70-89

There was a minor upset in Tokyo where 5th ranked Toyota Alvark (11-8) was crushed by seventh ranked Akita Happinets (11-8) 89-70 on Wednesday. Akita Happinets shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Ryuto Yasuoka (188-95) helped adding 24 points. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 8 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Alvark T. Akita Happinets will face higher ranked Shimane Magic (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
