Regular Season Round 20: Fukushima - Gunma 92-98

An interesting game for Gunma (18-2) which played road game in Fukushima against one of their biggest challengers Fukushima (13-7). First ranked Gunma managed to get a 6-point victory 98-92. Gunma dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 30. Gunma forced 19 Fukushima turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Fukushima was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: NM State) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Fukushima. Four Gunma and five Fukushima players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-2 record. Loser Fukushima dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Gunma will face Sendai 89ers (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukushima will play against Koshigaya A. and hope to win that game.
