Regular Season Round 7: H.Holon - M.Haifa 105-69

Hapoel Holon can celebrate finally their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Maccabi Haifa (1-4) 105-69 on Wednesday. Hapoel Holon made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Maccabi Haifa turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Hapoel Holon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American Chris Johnson (198-90, college: Dayton) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Polish point guard Oded Brandwein (179-88) helped adding 13 points and 8 assists. Five Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon's coach Stefanos Dedas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Venezuelan-American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) responded with 15 points and international Roman Sorkin (209-96, college: Oregon) scored 13 points. Hapoel Holon (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Loser Maccabi Haifa dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with H.Tel-Aviv and I.Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Holon will meet higher ranked H.Beer Sheva (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Haifa will play against Hapoel Eilat (#4) and hope to win that game.
