There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Vanoli Cremona (4-4) rolled over at home 4th placed Cantu (3-7) 101-67 on Wednesday. Vanoli Cremona made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Daulton Hommes (203-96, college: PLNU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Marcus Lee (208-94, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Five Vanoli Cremona players scored in double figures. Gabriele Procida (198-2) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Jazz Johnson (178-96, college: Nevada) added 10 points in the effort for Cantu. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vanoli Cremona moved-up to third place. Cantu lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Vanoli Cremona will face Fortitudo BO (#4) in Bologna in the next round. Cantu will play at home against Brescia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
