Very important is a road loss of third ranked Sendai 89ers (13-7) against fifth ranked Koshigaya A. (10-8) on Wednesday night. Visiting Sendai 89ers were defeated by Koshigaya A. in a tough game in Tokyo 64-72. Koshigaya A. made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Koshigaya A. outrebounded Sendai 89ers 50-35 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: App State) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Koshigaya A. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds by American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Guard Reiju Sasakura (187-97) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Koshigaya A. moved-up to third place, which they share with Kumamoto V. Loser Sendai 89ers dropped to the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Ibaraki R. and Fukushima. Koshigaya A. will meet Fukushima (#4) on the road in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's leader Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
