Very expected game when 6th ranked Aktobe (1-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Barsy Atyrau (7-3) 85-78. Barsy Atyrau made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Aktobe outrebounded Barsy Atyrau 41-28 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American guard Ryan Cook (191-90, college: UMBC) nailed 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Russian forward Pavel Sizov (200-95) accounted for 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Cook is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. Guard Alexander Papshiv (191-91) came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Russian Vladislav Gusak (202-95) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Aktobe in the defeat. Aktobe's coach Arsen Teleuov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Barsy Atyrau maintains second place with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader Astana. Aktobe lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Barsy Atyrau will play against Tobol (#4) in Kostanay in the next round. Aktobe will play on the road against Kaspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
